It was a great pleasure of speaking with several federal MPs over the course of the week, from March 22-26, to outline our mission and goals: Jessica Bell (NDP, University-Rosedale), Suze Morrison (NDP, Toronto Centre), Joel Harden (NDP, Ottawa Centre) and Terence Kernaghan (NDP, London North Centre).

We asked politicians to commit to the following asks:

  1. Immediately implement universal, no-cost coverage for all contraceptive options to all people living in Ontario.

  2. Sponsor educational programs that endorse and circulate information about contraceptive methods and use within public schools in Ontario.

  3. Sponsor public education campaigns to endorse and circulate the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada information about contraceptive methods and use.

Thank you to everyone for making it a huge success! We can't wait to share more ideas with you soon. Please see our 1-pager file below for an overview of the campaign.

What started as a letter from several Ontario physicians, sparked a growing movement for contraception access.

On World Contraception Day 2020 (September 26), a petition for universal contraception coverage gathered over 1000 signatures from healthcare providers across Ontario and was endorsed by 13 professional and non-profit organizations.

The astounding support to these advocacy efforts fuelled a desire for a dedicated organization to continue to push for reproductive equity. Cover ContraceptiON was born.
